Joint Personnel Tackle Waterlogging on Jalan DI Panjaitan

Around 25 joint personnel from the Public Facilities Maintenance Unit (PPSU) and the Water Resources (SDA) Task Force were deployed to tackle waterlogging on Jalan DI Panjaitan, Cipinang Cempedak Urban Village, Jatinegara Sub-district, East Jakarta, on Thursday (1/22).

"About 25 joint personnel were deployed to handle the waterlogging,"

The personnel cleared drainage channels and worked with traffic police to direct vehicles from Cililitan toward Tanjung Priok away from deeper water.

Cipinang Cempedak Urban Village Head Rico Eka Putra Rifai said the waterlogging occurred at around 6:45 AM following heavy rainfall.

Water levels varied between 30 and 50 centimeters, especially in front of Patria Park Cawang. With deeper water on the left side, PPSU personnel were stationed to prevent vehicles from getting trapped.

"About 25 joint personnel were deployed to handle the waterlogging. As of 10:40 AM, the water level was still around 45 centimeters," he reported.

According to Rico, the waterlogging was caused by heavy rainfall combined with the road's low-lying contour. The water had briefly receded at around 8:15 AM, but rose again after another round of heavy rainfall.

Sofyan (49), a passing motorcyclist, said he felt greatly helped by joint personnel who guided road users to prevent vehicles from stalling in the flooded area.

"Without guidance, many vehicles might have stalled because we couldn't tell how deep the water was," he said.
